1. The Annunciation
The angel Gabriel, his name implies that God answers prayers, was sent by God to a virgin woman just betrothed to Joseph a carpenter. She was about her daily duties when the angel appeared and said that she has been the chosen one to bear the saviour of the world. It was an awesome moment for a young girl to know that she would bear a child not by any kind of human disire but by the Holy Spirit. She, whose only desire was to submit in fulness to the will of her creator, did not refrain in any way from offering herself in body and spirit to God, by accepting wholeheartedly the will of God, not for her own sake but for the sake of humanity.
2. The Visitation
Having learnt from the angel that her cousin in her old age was with child, Mary rushed to the hill country of Judea to greet her and assist her in her state. On her arrival not only Elizabeth but also the to be born, John - The Baptist in her womb, expresed joy that knew no bounds. For at the very moment the Lord God was unfolding his marvellous plan, to these people, of his saving plan that he had since the beginning of the world.
They heard the voice of the one crying in the wilderness - make straight the ways of the Lord.
3. The Natitvity of Our Lord
In the stillness of the night, when the world was asleep the Lord made his message known. It was then that his Word came down from on high, from the father's royal throne. He is Christ, our Lord and our King. We have with us the authentic record of the only one approved of God to be our guru and king. Yet we see him manifested as the poorerest of the poor. One as experiencing the misery of man who had lost the pleasures of being in the presence of God. He is the friend of the forsaken; the saviour of the stranded; the lover of the lost. Jesus came to save all the lost right from the time of conception to the moment of ones last breath.
4. The Presentation of our Lord in the Temple
Though he was the one in the bosom of the Father, for our sake he subjected himself under the law, that those under the law of death may be saved from its clucthes to freedom of the law of life. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Call him Emmanual - God with us. The aged man and the woman at the temple rejoiced at seeing the salvation of the world placed before their eyes. They saw the weakness of man being strengthened by the power of God. Their desires fulfilled they exclaimed, "Let thy servant depart in peace, for my sees have seen the salvation of God."
5. Finding Jesus in the temple
His Father's house is filled with the treasures of the kingdom of God. He declares the hidden things that find the fullness of their meaning only in Him. In simplicity he reveals the truth that tireless striving failed to declare. Humility displays the wisdom of the Ancient. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Time has its origin and convergence in him. He who made all things has also measured their existance. The limits he has drawn and he knows their extends. Let us submit the frail understanding of all that is seen and unseen to Wisdom of God. The foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man and the weakness of God is greater than the strength of man.
6. The Agony of our Lord in Gethsemane
There are no contradictions in him who subjects himself to his own word, even at the cost of his own life. If humanity has to find its meaning, it has to accept God, not according to its own fantasy but in humble submission to the salvation plan that God himself chose to reveal to humanity, not in any other object of creation but in Himself taking on the likeness of the fallen man - that what is consigned to the dust in the flesh may be redeemed in the fullness of the Spirit. Believe in the one who is God Himself. Believe not those who are already consigned to the dust and ashes. You are not meant to die. Know thy God who saves.
7. The scourging of our Lord at the pillar
Of what good is your knowledge if it does not lead you to Truth, the Light which is Life. This was the Life poured out on the face of this earth by the most gruesome rituals that fallen angels had taught man. His fight was not against man, who is his own image and likeness - but against the wickedness of darkness that lures man away from the True Light. Know then how much our Father loves us that he sent his own Word, his Son in our own likeness not adorned with ornament made by the craftiness of man but in the fullness of His Spirit. Accept this love that God has poured on you. Move away from darkness.
8. The Crowning of our Lord with thorns
Before every thing was created God was. Everything that was made was by his powerful word. Wickedness that disintergrates does not find its place in God. God's Word holds everything together. Wickedness with its cunning twisted serpentine knowledge subjected the superirority of man over all the rest of creation in its clutches, whereby man lost his freedom of moving in the presence of God. But Gods love does not abandon man; Jesus - the Son of God came to restore the lost man to his original state of free friendship with God. Is not this friendship with the Truth worth dying for? Courage is our armour. Do not turn back. You can not afford the loss.
9. The Carrying of the Cross
All that is truth, shines only after put to the utmost test. After a test the false is defeated. Truth does not ask for assistance from that which is to fail. It faces the test with courage from within. Here is displayed the farthest limits of the one who is snatched away into the utmost darkness away from God, for in contrast to Life it is death. To redeem the one in trouble, the Redeemer had to enter into the trouble. To save man from death the Word of God made man drank this bitter drink of accepting death to save the dead. He has borne all our suffering. You can trust Him. He will lead you to Life.
10. The Crucifixion and the death of our Lord
We believe that all things happen according to the will of God, but unfortunately we fail to identify the purpose in the thing that happen according to the will of God. Jesus was mocked at, took on every pain without a murmuring. The Word that created the foundations of this World, that which changed the water into wine, calmed the troubled seas, brought back the dead to life, hangs on the cross. His submission unto death has brought us Life. You can't afford to ignore this. He gives us all that he has, His very own life. The Life that is in the Word of God is now free to anyone who wants it. This Love of God is beyond all understanding.
11. The Resurrection of our Lord
The prayers of the sages; the weariness of the weak; the longing of the lost man doomed to die, have been answered once for eyes to see, ears to hear, hands to feel. Christ rose from the dead. The Roman government wanted to be doubly sure that he died. They certified him dead after piercing the dead body of Jesus hanging on the cross. They did not break his legs to expidite his death. In spite of all this, His was the only tomb in the history of the world to be gaurded by military men after being sealed. Death could not keep him bound. He rose from the dead that we may share his victory and rejoice. Mrityoma Amrithangamaya - This prayer is answered.
12. The Ascension of our Lord
Like the rain that comes from the skies do not return without doing its work of giving food for man and seed to the sower; So also the Son of God after accomplishing the task of shaming death on its face by his resurection returned to the Father, the Creator. God the father certified his pleasure in the echoing voice which people heard coming from Heaven: "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased". He returns in submission to the will of the Creator to present man's victory over sin and death - not by the way of fallen intelligence - but by the will of God. The Son of God in the bossom of the Father is our Lord and Saviour who raises our lowly being into the eternal Light of God. His mediation is unfailing. His Word is True.
13. The decent of the Holy Spirit on the believers
The Love of God that embraces his Word that returned to him overflows itself with such power and grace that the Holy Spirit freely flows into the lives of all who accept the truth and believe in it. The Eternal Spirit of God flows from and through the soul that realises the abundance of Love that God has on his creation by not even sparing His Primordial Word to take the likeness of the flesh that it created even within the womb of a woman. Men realising this declared, "God's Love is poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that is given to us". The Spirit declares that Jesus is Lord.
14. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin into Heaven
All that is seen and yet unseen are the handwork of God himself, whose disire is to permeate his eternity in the whole of creation. In this let us believe that not only the soul but also the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit is to be redeemed. The virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, having been the temple in which the Word of God took flesh cannot be abandoned by God to experience corruption. As Jesus is in union with God, so also whosoever believes in his heart that Jesus is Lord and professes the truth that God raised him from the dead, receives the eternal reward of the ressurection of the body, for the complete union with God. This act of God is certified here.
15. The Coronation of the Blessed Virgin
1 Pet 2:9 says "But you are a special people, a holy nation, priests and kings, a people given up completely to God, so that you may make clear the virtues of him who took you out of the dark into the light of heaven." - God became equal with man in Jesus, so that man may be made equal to God not with an attitude against God but in association with him. This is eternal Life in complete union with God. This redumption is not something to crave for. It is freely available in Jesus. He has taken away all our misery so that believing in Him we have eternal life.
